D.W. Springer, 78, of Blooming Grove passed away Sunday, Jan. 28, 2001 at Navarro Regional Hospital.

Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. today at Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home in Blooming Grove.

Services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at First Methodist Church in Blooming Grove, with a 2 p.m. graveside service at Sardis Cemtery in Ellis County. The Rev. Thomas Childs and the REv. Marvin Moore will officiate.

Pallbearers will be Van McElroy, Wilson Springer, Bryan Hayes, Stanley Springer, Phil Golden and Richard Pierson. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Blooming Grove Lions Club.

Mr. Springer was born Nov. 5, 1922 in Ovilla. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Blooming Grove and the Blooming Grove Lions Club. He was a teacher at Blooming Grove High School from 1948 to 1954. He was a member of the Navarro County Hospital Board.

Mr. Springer is survived by his wife, Mary Springer of Blooming Grove; son and daughter-in-law, Randy and Tara Springer of Corsicana; daughter and son-in-law, Marilyn and Gary Cobb of Austin; sister and brother-in-law Danetta and Darrell Countryman of Midlothian; and four grandchildren.
