Elige Hickman(1932 - 2018)
Dr. Elige W. Hickman, passed away on Thursday, December 13, 2018. He was a native of Ardmore, Oklahoma, born on August 28, 1932 to E.W. and Cleo Hickman.

Dr. Hickman graduated from Abilene Texas High School in 1950. He earned the B.S. degree at Texas A&M in 1954, and then served in the U.S. Army as an officer in the 65th Infantry Regiment and the 522 Infantry Battalion Separate until 1956. He earned M. Ed in 1971 and the ED.D. in 1975 from the University of Arkansas.

Dr. Hickman met Nora Edmonson in 1959 in Longview, Texas and they got married in 1960 in Oklahoma City. They have two children, Marc Edmonson and his wife, Margaret, of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma and Andrea Dunn of Lawrenceville, Georgia, as well as two granddaughters, Kelly Edmonson and Lindsey Edmonson of Broken Arrow.

After military service, he worked for Atlantic Refining Company in New Mexico, Texas and Oklahoma. He then began ranching and teaching in Oklahoma. He taught as a professor in Education at Augusta State University for 21 years and retired in 1997. He was a member, Treasurer and President of Phi Delta Kappa at ASU, a member, President. Lt. Governor and Hixon Fellow of Augusta Uptown Kiwanis, and a member, Treasurer and President of Friends of Columbia County Libraries. He was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church and the Gillespie Pathways Sunday School Class.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, December 19, 2018 at Wesley United Methodist Church with the Rev. Greg Porterfield officiating.
