Debra Lynn Hamman
June 25, 1959 - December 4, 2018

Debra Lynn Hamman, 59, of El Campo, was called home on December 4, 2018 surrounded by her loving family. She was born in El Campo on June 25, 1959 to John and Gloria Frels Nordeen. Debbie’s best attributes were her joy and the peace she brought to all. She was the strength of our family and brought everyone together for special occasions. Debbie had the ability to make everyone feel welcomed with her warm spirit and love. Like Will Rogers, she “never met a stranger.” She will always be remembered for being the best hostess, her care for others, her compassion, her generosity and especially for her contagious laugh. She was a teacher for 27 years beginning at Boling High School and continued at El Campo ISD, where she taught math, coached swimming and was a cheerleading sponsor before retiring in 2017. Debbie was a loving wife, daughter, mother, grandmother and friend. She enjoyed spending her time fishing, swimming, being at the bay and most of all being around family and friends. She was an active member of First United Methodist Church - El Campo where she served on nearly every committee.

She is survived by her parents, husband Rocky Hamman of El Campo, son Bradley Hamman and wife Sarah of San Antonio, daughter Katie Gonzalez and husband Antonio of Houston, son Matthew Hamman and wife Hayley of El Campo, step daughter Jennifer Matura and Thomas of Bay City, grandchildren Levi Hamman, Eva Gonzalez, Seth Bagby, Brett Bagby, Kailah Matura and Kade Matura, Sister Tammy Sommerlatte and husband Keith of Sugar Land, Brother Brett Nordeen and wife Dawn of El Campo and MANY other loved family members.

Visitation will begin on Friday at 3 pm at Triska Funeral Home with her family receiving visitors from 5 pm until 7 pm. Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Saturday, December 8, 2018, at the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Richard Young officiating. Burial will follow at the Garden of Memories Cemetery.

Pallbearers: Brent Gregurek, Blake Hamman, Clayton Hicks, Chase Higgins, Kenny Gustafson and Greg Anderson. Honorary Pallbearers: Chris Hamman, Troy Hamman, Peter Photos, Thomas Matura, Cameron Hicks, Billy Hodges, Ben Altenhoff, Steven Weinheimer and Klay King.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the First United Methodist Church of El Campo or Texas Children's Hospital.
