Maurice Robinowitz
August 18, 1927 - December 11, 2018

Maurice (Rock) Robinowitz, 91, passed away on December 11 at home. He was a native of Houston, graduated from Lamar High School in 1944 and from Texas A&M, Class of ’48. He served in the Army Air Corps in the Pacific Theater.

Rock was known for his dry, witty sense of humor; his embrace of people from all walks of life; and his love of Texas A&M.

He was a president of Houston A&M Club and served as class agent for Class ’48. In 1991, he retired from the grocery business, and began a new chapter of his life, volunteering. He served as president of the volunteers at Houston Arboretum & Nature Center, where he portrayed Johnny Appleseed, and was “president” of the Wednesday volunteers at M.D. Anderson Children’s Art Project.

He is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 66 years, Marilyn, and is survived by daughter Robin Robinowitz (husband Louis Dobkin), son Robert Robinowitz (wife Maria Montes de Oca) and grandchildren, Jared Dobkin, Lilliana and Camila Robinowitz.
