Richard (Dick) Vogel - Born Aug 4, 1936- passed -Nov 27, 2018 Born in Colfax, Washington to Orville and Bertha Vogel, Dick attended WSU for his BA and Master's and Texas A&M for his Dr. of Ed. He received an honorable discharge from the Army Reserves. Before
going to Texas he taught middle school shop in Moses Lake. At A&M he taught engineering design graphics. In 1971 he accepted a position at Western Washington University in the Technology Department teaching industrial graphics and AutoCAD. He retired in 1998.
In 1959 he married Patricia Brown and together they raised three sons, Rick (Doreen), Jim, and Mike (Lori). They have four grandsons: Brent, Cody, Ryan, Colin. With three sons and four grandsons, Dick had a love of the Boy Scouts and actively participated
as a scoutmaster. He influenced many young lives and enjoyed many an adventure in the out of doors. Upon retirement Dick and Pat purchased a motor home and set out to see North America. They traveled extensively from Alaska to Mexico and all 50 states. Dick
was a craftsman and could take apart, design and build just about anything. He had a passion for RC boats and planes and spent many hours turning out masterpieces. A highlight for him was attending a national RC convention in Muncie, Indiana with his son Rick.
Dick never met a tool or gadget that he "didn't need"! He was a generous, gentle, and kind man and will be missed by all who knew him. A special thanks to long time neighbors John and LeeAnn Lehni for their friendship and fellowship throughout the years. At
Dick's request there will be no services but remembrances may be made to the Richard and Patricia Vogel Technology Scholarship Fund at WWU Foundation, 516 High Street, Bellingham, WA 98225.
