Gary Lynn Nace

Mr. Gary Lynn Nace of Amarillo, Texas, went to be with his Lord on December 7, 2018.

Memorial services will be at 2:00 p.m., Monday in Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel, 2800 Paramount Blvd.

Gary was born on December 25, 1951 in Littlefield, Texas. Mr. Nace was preceded in death by his parents, Charles “Bud” and Gwen “Erichson” Nace.

On June 28, 1986, Gary married the love of his life, Darlis Jeannine Todd in Amarillo, Texas. He is survived by his three children and their spouses, Ryan and Lynsey Davis of Amarillo, Kevin and Trena Rider of Bushland, and Trent Laubhan of Amarillo. Gary loved his five grandchildren so much he even gave them very special nicknames: Sheridan “Chuggy” Rider, Ashton “Shorty” Rider, Austin “Bud” Rider, Alex “Bubba” Laubhan, and Shaylee “Stinky” Laubhan, as well as, his brother Brad Nace of Littlefield, Texas, and many loving nieces and nephews.

Gary was a proud graduate of Texas A&M University (’76) with a degree in Animal Science. Upon graduation, Gary worked for the Texas State Prison System. After four years with the prison system Gary went to work with Birko Corporation in 1980 as a chemical sales representative. Gary continued to work with Birko until he retired in 2016.

In his 66 of years of life, Gary received many notable honors. As a dedicated member of the Southwest Meatpackers Association, Gary was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2016. In October 2018, Gary received the “Excellence in Service Award” from the Texas Tech Meat Science Department. Gary spent many hours of his life volunteering with the youth of Texas, from the Houston and Armstrong County Livestock Show, to the Boys Scouts of America. Gary loved to help others and support youth activities. However, if you asked Gary, he would say his greatest accomplishment was his family.

Gary will be greatly missed by many family and friends.
