A 10:30 A.M. memorial service will be held for Charles "Charley" Lynn Hall, DVM, 85, of College Station, Texas on Saturday, December 1, 2018 at the First United Methodist Church of Bryan, Texas.

Dr. Hall was born on May 21, 1933 in Larue, Texas, and died on November 27, 2018 in New Braunfels, Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents, Truman Hunt Hall and Mildred Helena Rusk Hall of Dallas, Texas; his wife and the mother of his six children, Sandra Jean Otts Hall of College Station, Texas; and his brothers, Gary Edwin Hall of Tyler, Texas, and Thomas Jefferson Rusk Hall of Dallas, Texas.

He is survived by his wife, of 25 years, Diana J. Hall; his brother, Jack Curtis Hall and wife Helene of Longview, Texas; his six children, Karen Sue Hall of Santa Fe, New Mexico, Reagan Clayton Hall and wife Rhonda of College Station, Texas, Joel Rusk Hall and wife Susan of Houston, Texas, Laurie Ann Hall Hill-Chapman and husband Dave Chapman of Spicewood, Texas, Judith Lynn Hall Bragman and husband William of Magnolia, Texas, and Rebecca Leigh Hall of College Station, Texas; 12 grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.

Before Dr. Hall graduated from Texas A&M College in 1954, he was a running back for the Texas Aggie football team and became a member of coach Bear Bryant's legendary "Junction Boys." After college, he served as a lieutenant in the U.S. Army from 1955-1957. He returned to TAMU to study Veterinary medicine in 1960, was inducted into the Phi Zeta veterinary honor society, and was elected President of the senior class. He earned his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree in 1964 from the TAMU College of Veterinary Medicine (CVM), ran a Veterinary Clinic in Palestine, Texas from 1964-1967, and then returned to the CVM as a professor for the remainder of his career where he earned a Masters degree from the CVM in 1972.

During his time as a professor, he gave over 50 professional presentations and authored or co-authored 14 scientific publications. He prided himself on his work in the classroom, having educated over 3500 veterinary students during his career. He was honored with numerous teaching awards, including a Faculty Achievement Award form the Student Chapter of the American Veterinary Medical Association in 1971, a Faculty Achievement Award from the Texas Veterinary Medical Association in 1976, a Distinguished Faculty Achievement Award from the Association of Former Students (AFS) in 1976, a College-Level Teaching Award from the AFS in 1990, the John Milliff Endowed Veterinary Faculty Award in 1993, and an Outstanding Alumnus Award from the CVM in 2014. Additionally, the graduating DVM class of 1995 selected Dr. Hall as their commencement speaker.

One duty that he considered to be a great honor was his appointment as the official veterinarian for Reveilles IV, V, and VI. Upon her retirement, Reveille VI was given to Dr. Hall as a gesture of gratitude for his many years of service on behalf of the "First Lady of Aggieland."
