George Loveland
DECEMBER 5, 1939 – NOVEMBER 23, 2018

George Loveland, 78, passed away Friday, November 23, 2018. He was born December 5, 1939 in Tulsa, OK, the son of the late Jack and Helen Dunn Loveland. After WWII, his family moved to Dallas, where he attended Jesuit High School and then enrolled at Texas A&M University in the Class of 1961 which became his lifelong identity. He was a class agent for almost 50 years, wrote and recited the class history at reunions much to the enjoyment of former classmates and beyond. After graduating from Texas A&M, George was commissioned into the Army as a 1st Lieutenant and served for six years.

In 1965 he married Patsy Sellmeyer, and they were blessed with two sons, John and Lance. He spent his career as an investment advisor. George enjoyed organizing and coaching little league football. His hobbies were hunting and fishing. George loved to travel in the US and Europe and was a WWII buff. His trademark was always having a can of Diet Dr. Pepper in his hand, his adult beverage of choice for 54 years.

In 1997, he and Patsy moved from Dallas to Colorado Springs where they thoroughly enjoyed the mountain life. In 2011, Aggieland beckoned and lured him back for “all things Aggie”, from sporting events, Former Student activities to the making and renewal of friendships. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Center and supported the Corps of Cadets, Former Students Assoc. and the Veterans’ Resource Center at Texas A&M University.

Survivors include his wife Patsy; son, John and his wife Amanda and their children, Josephine, William, and Grant; son, Lance and his wife Kimberly and their children, Makena and Lawson; one brother, John Patrick Loveland ’60; and many family loved ones.

A Celebration of George’s life and a Memorial Mass will be held at 10:30 AM, Friday, November 30th at St. Mary’s Catholic Center, 603 Church Ave., College Station, TX 77840, followed by a reception.
