Dr. Jason L. Campbell

With great sadness we announce the death of Dr. Jason L Campbell who passed away on November 13, 2018. He was 101 years old.

Jason was born in Grand Prairie, TX on 6/20/17, the son of Bess Cunningham and Jackson Luther Campbell.

He attended Texas A&M and graduated with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He was called to active duty after ROTC and went to Aberdeen Proving Ground in MD. He taught Officer’s Candidate School and worked for the Judge Advocate Generals Office.

In 1943 he was transferred to Pilot Training School. He became a pilot of a B-17 and went to the 8th Army Air Corps. He flew 27 missions over Germany from Knettistall, England, achieved the rank of Major and received the Distinguished Flying Cross. After being discharged, he and his wife, Bess Stevenson Campbell, owned and operated the Port Penn Canning Co., in Port Penn, DE. In 1952 he entered Temple Medical School. Graduating in 1956 he established a medical practice in New Castle, DE, retiring in 1988. He loved his boat, his home in Rehoboth Beach, reading and football.

He is survived by his daughters Margaret Alderson, Dr. Anne Aldridge of Middletown, DE and Dr. Nell Woodroffe of Greenville, NC, 6 grand children and twelve great grand children. Services will be private.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions be sent to the Sunday Breakfast Mission, 600 E. 5th St., Wilmington, DE, 19801.
