Judith Ann Fiedler Finn
April 22, 1940 - October 23, 2018

Dr. Judith Ann Fiedler Finn, age 78, died peacefully at her home in Tulsa, Oklahoma on Tuesday, October 23, 2018. Born on April 22, 1940 in Madison, WI, she was the first child of Thomas Cameron and Naomi Mildred (Bartz) Fiedler.
On August 24, 1963, Judith married Warren Eugene Finn in Madison, WI. Together, they raised two daughters, Kirstin in 1972 and Arikka in 1978.
A loving wife and devoted mother, Judith is survived by her husband Warren; her daughter Kirstin and husband John of Norman; daughter Arikka Finn and grandson Theadore of Tulsa; also by her sister Francis Piper. Her parents Thomas and Naomi Fiedler preceded her in death.
Naturally curious and loving learning, Judith graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison (B.A.; M.A., English; M.A., Educational Psychology), from Texas A & M University with a Ph.D. in English Lit. in 1974, an M.A. in Urban Studies from the University of Tulsa in 1980. As well as receiving various other graduate degrees, she was always an avid reader.
Judith received her J.D. from the University of Tulsa College of Law in 1980 and was admitted to practice law in 1981 in Oklahoma and the U.S. Supreme Court, U.S. Court of Appeals, Tenth Circuit. She was a Law Clerk for the Honorable H. Dale Cook, U.S. District Court, Northern District of Oklahoma from 1980 -1985. She was Associate Professor at the University of Tulsa from 1986 -1991. Judith spent much of her career as a partner in the law firm Pinkerton & Finn. Her memberships included the Oklahoma and American Bar Associations and American Trial Lawyers Association.
Judith’s community service Included decades of volunteer involvement with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and City of Tulsa, focusing on floodplain management and environmental protection. Serving as a long-term chair of Tulsa’s Stormwater Drainage and Hazard Mitigation Advisory Board, she was especially recognized for her outstanding service from 1976 – 1980.
While she devoted her professional life to the law, throughout her career Judith contributed her time, knowledge and energy to many causes, including her shared vision and unwavering commitment to stewardship of our earth and its finite resources; she was in essence a lawyer for the planet.
The family will greet friends and others whose lives Judith touched at a visitation Friday November 2 from 5 – 7 p.m. at Stanleys Funeral Home as well as at the Celebration of Life service, Saturday November 3, 2:00 p.m. at Trinity Episcopal Church, 501 S. Cincinnati Ave., Tulsa.
