Born January 13, 1931, to Finis W. and Wanda Dean Peacock in Cleburne, Texas, Charlie spent his childhood there and graduated from Cleburne High School in 1948. With an interest in engineering, Charlie then entered Texas A&M University, where he served in the Corps of Cadets. He interrupted his university career for four years to serve in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. He exited the USAF as a Staff Sergeant who had been awarded the Bronze Star and Purple Heart. Charlie returned to Texas A&M and graduated with a mechanical engineering degree in 1957. Charlie worked for General Dynamics, Rocketdyne, LTV, and Gearhart before launching an independent career as an engineering consultant.

Charlie married Donna McClain on December 12, 1972. He had three children from a previous marriage.

Charlie and Donna lived in Grand Prairie for the first several years of their marriage, and then moved to Granbury. Semi-retired, Charlie and Donna enjoyed extensive travel and entertaining friends and family. Charlie also enjoyed flying planes, both remote control planes and small private aircraft.

Predeceased by Donna, Charlie is survived by his son, David Peacock and daughter-in-law Judy Peacock; his daughter, Susan (Peacock) Gray, and son-in-law Robert Gray; and by his daughter Shelley Peacock. Survivors also include his grandchildren, Chelsea Peacock, Colleen Wagner, and Jordan Marshall, and two great-grandchildren. Charlie is also survived by his brother and sister-in-law Jim and Aldara Peacock, and his sister-in-law and brother-in-law Kay and Marian Kutis.

There will be an informal gathering for any friends and family who wish to attend. The gathering will be held on Sunday, October 21, at 11 a.m., at Susannah’s Home Style Cooking, 1514 W. Henderson Street, Cleburne, TX.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or to the giver’s charity of choice.
