Sigmund "Sig" Hoverson
OCTOBER 18, 1941 ~ OCTOBER 23, 2018 (AGE 77)

Sigmund “Sig” Hoverson of Umatilla was born October 18, 1941 in Seattle, WA the son of Andrew and Lola (Jacobson) Hoverson. He passed away in Umatilla on Tuesday October 23, 2018 at the age of 77.

Sig grew up and attended school in Seattle, graduating from Roosevelt High School in the class of 1959. He attended California Institute of Technology where he received his bachelor’s degree. He then attended the University of Washington where he completed his Masters studies. He completed his PhD at Texas A&M.

Sig worked for Advanced Technical Labs for several years. He later was a partner in North American Computer Services in Kirkland, WA. He moved from Kirkland to Umatilla in 2008 where he has resided since. He taught Physics, Chemistry and Energy at Blue Mountain Community College from 2008 through 2015.

Sig enjoyed learning new things, teaching other people, helping people in need, studying ancient Egypt and doing carpentry work.

He married Laurel Young in Seattle, WA on July 4, 2000.

He is survived by his wife, Laurel; daughters, Vickie Palmer and Julie Hoverson; son, Dannar Hoverson; two grandchildren; and sister, Beth Nelson.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Arrangements are pending and will be announced later. Burns Mortuary of Hermiston is in care of final arrangements.

Family suggest memorial donations to go toward the advancement of education or to the American Kidney Association.
