Dr. Jessie Ann Buel, DVM
Born: November 20, 1959
Died: October 27, 2018
Location: Austin, Texas
Dr. Jessie Ann Buel, DVM, Austin, Texas, left this life on Saturday, October 27, 2018. She was born November 20, 1959, at Scott Air Force Base, Illinois, the daughter of Brigadier General (ret) Charles J. and Nancy L. Buel.
Jessie grew up as an "Army Brat" and moved many times during her father's career, attending many different schools and living in several other countries, but she never complained and loved the adventure. She was consistent in always saying "Me Do It". Along
the way, while living in the Dominican Republic, she became passionate about riding horses. When the family left Santo Domingo and moved to Ft. Sill, Oklahoma, her parents promised her a horse of her very own. Always the competitor, Jessie became skilled at
riding hunter/jumpers, winning many ribbons, awards and trophies and was an active member of the Ft. Sill Hunt Club. It was during these years that she developed her love of animals, especially horses, and became determined to become a veterinarian.
Following her dream, she entered Texas A&M University and graduated cum laude with pre-veterinarian Bachelor and Masters degrees followed by a Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine. She then began practicing in Austin, Texas. Jessie loved her profession, and most
of all, she loved her animal patients and served them with great compassion and care. She was a volunteer at the Marble Falls Humane Society and also helped care for the chickens maintained by the Travis Elementary School to enable young children to learn
about birds. She was also a passionate runner, together with the rest of her family.
Jessie is survived by a devoted and loving family: her mother, Nancy; her brother, Jeffrey and his son, Zander, of Scottsdale, Arizona; and her sister, Julie Butner; and her brother-in-law, Gregory Butner, of Fort Worth, as well as other relatives and many
friends. Her beloved father had preceded her in 2002. Jessie's family and friends will miss her dearly, but she will always live on in their hearts and minds.
Memorial services will be held on Sunday, November 4th at 1:00PM at the Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home, 2620 South Congress Avenue, followed by a celebration of her life at the Hotel San Jose, 1316 South Congress. In lieu of flowers, her family asks that donations
be sent to the Humane Society, the Wildlife Rescue, or the Carolina Waterfowl Rescue.
