Services for Donald Bowne, 85, of Kilgore will be 10:00 a.m., Monday, October 15, 2018 at the First Christian Church with Reverend Ron Byrd officiating. Burial will follow in Danville Cemetery. Mr. Bowne died Thursday, October 11, 2018 in Tyler, Texas.
Donald Bowne was born on August 21,1933 in Cisco, Texas to William Hodges Bowne and Birdie Jones Bowne. He graduated from Moran High School in 1951 and attended Tarelton Junior College, where he was in the Corp and was awarded a medal for being the neatest cadet. Don graduated in 1953 and moved on to Texas A&M University, graduating in the class of '55 with a civil engineering degree. Mr. Bowne spent 21, years working at E-Systems, followed by another 22 years at Vertex Communication Corporation before retiring to spend time enjoying his hobbies of fishing, hunting and playing golf. He was a long-time member and elder at First Christian Church of Kilgore.
Left to cherish his memory are Peggy, his wife of 62 years; brother, William Kelly Bowne of Austin; daughter and son-in-law Kevin and Gayla Baxter of Kilgore; son and daughter-in-law David and Paula Bowne of Brookfield, Massachusetts; daughter and son-in-law Michael and LaDonna Fasang of Dallas; granddaughters Maci Bowne, Blair Baxter and Madison Fasang; grandsons Mitch Fasang and Max Fasang; and several close cousins.
He is preceded in death by his parents, and grandson, Blake Bowne.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that any donations be made to the First Christian Church memorial fund.
The family will receive friends at Rader Funeral Home Sunday afternoon between 4:00 – 6:00 p.m.
