David Guinn Fortenberry Fortenberry

1957-2018

David Guinn Fortenberry, 61, of Arcadia, Oklahoma, passed away October 25th at home, surrounded by loved ones after a battle with cancer. David was born October 21, 1957 in Decatur Texas to Ansel and Mary Nell Fortenberry. David was an elder at New Hope Church of Christ and was an avid outdoorsman. He was a member of the Fellowship of Christian Archers, an organization he was very passionate about. He is survived by his wife, Rhonda Fortenberry, and his children, Lauren Fortenberry, Emily Fortenberry, Josie Fortenberry, Stepchildren Justin Prindle and wife Krista Prindle, Joshua Prindle, Jamie Newton and husband Zach Newton, his grandchildren, Kate Prindle, Jordyn Prindle, and James Prindle, his siblings, Judy Shelley and Philip Fortenberry, and his mother, Mary Nell Fortenberry Dicus. He is preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Fortenberry, and his father, Ansel Fortenberry. David graduated from Decatur, TX High School and graduated from Texas A&M University in 1981. He had a career in drilling and engineering at Mitchell Energy and Devon Energy. David will be missed by all the lives he has touched. Visitation services will be in Edmond, OK, at Matthews Funeral Home on Friday, October 26th, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Celebration of Life is at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 27th at New Hope Church of Christ, 700 West Second, Edmond, OK 73003. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to “Missions Fund” in care of New Hope Church of Christ.
