Benjamin Asbury Fain
November 18, 1924 - October 20, 2018

NORTH RICHLAND HILLS - Benjamin Asbury Fain, Jr., 93, passed away Saturday, Oct. 20, 2018.
He was born and raised in Brownwood, Texas. He attended Howard Payne University and Texas A&M University. In 1943, at age 19 he was called to serve in WWII by the U.S. Army. During his service he spent time in Normandy, France, Ardennes Rhineland, Germany and various locations in central Europe. He served two years and eight months and was honorably discharged in 1945 at age 21.
After the war he resumed his education at the University of Texas at Austin, graduating in 1948. While at the University he met and married his wife of 55 years, Mary Elizabeth (Bess) Altgelt. From there he returned to Brownwood and worked in the family business, Fain's Department Store. Later he moved to Fort Worth where he was employed by Convair/General Dynamics/Lockheed Martin for the next 16 years. He worked the final 18 years of his career for Oncor Electric Delivery in Fort Worth.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Mary Elizabeth Fain.
Survivors: Son, Douglas B. Fain and wife, Diana of North Richland Hills; sister, Cora Lee Baldwin of Long Boat Key, Florida; and one grandson, Nicholas Coan of North Richland Hills.
