Jack Morelock
November 27, 1928 - March 12, 2013
Jack Morelock, 84, of Llano passed away on March 12, 2013. He was born to John and Althea (Roberson) Morelock in Houston, Texas on November 27, 1928. Jack served in the U.S. Military. He spent 8 years working as a geologist for Conoco, three of those years
in Libya. He received his Ph.D. at Texas A & M in Oceanography. He headed the Oceanography Department at Florida Institute of Technology for three years. He then spent three years doing research and writing technical papers at the Instituto Oceanografico in
Cumana, Venezuela as head of their Oceanography Department. The family then moved to Mayaguez, Puerto Rico to head the Geological Oceanography graduate program and teach there for 33 years. He published more than 100 scientific papers of Oceanography, Coral
Reefs, Sedimentation and Coastline erosion. He returned and moved to Llano in April 2004 and has enjoyed living here very much. In his spare time he enjoyed scuba, flying, kayaks, photography, boating, carpentry, world traveling, avid reader and lecturer.
