Lynn David Turner
February 23, 1940 - October 02, 2018

Lynn David Turner passed away peacefully on October 2, 2018 at the age of 78. Lynn’s life will be honored at a graveside service which will be held 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, October 10, 2018, at Restland Cemetery in Gatesville, Texas.

Lynn was born February 23, 1940 in Gatesville, Texas. He remembered his childhood fondly with his family on their ranch near Purmela earning many 4H and rodeo accolades throughout the years. While in high school, Lynn won the 1958 National High School Calf Roping Championship in Sulphur, Louisiana. He obtained his bachelor’s degree from Texas A&M University. Lynn’s career took him to Dallas where he was a successful banker, lender, and then an entrepreneur.

When his kids were young, Lynn loved coaching his girls’ sports and creating inventions in their garage workshop with his son. Throughout the years, Lynn’s family and friends spent lots of time at their lake house boating, skiing, and riding the infamous yellow “Freddie.” Lynn was happiest when surrounded by family whether it was celebrating the 4th of July at his annual fish fry, eating biscuits with his sister, Polly, telling jokes with his nephew, Charlie, or sharing stories with his nephew, Ron.

Lynn’s positive “you can do it” encouragement, quiet humility, and unwavering support will be forever instilled in his family. His smile was contagious, his heart was always giving, and his faith was steadfast. His family and friends will remember him most for this unconditional love - the same love that God the Father has for all of us.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Emmett and Minnie Ola (Shoaf) Turner; and his beloved sisters, Pauline (Polly) Hall and Voncille Hudson.

Lynn is survived by his wife, Karen Turner of McKinney; his three children and eight grandchildren, Cliff (and Sheri) Turner with Anayiah, Jessica, and Hailey of San Antonio, Courtney (Turner) and James Forte with Jordan and Avery of Chico, California, and Melissa (Turner) and Randy Fortenberry with Sam, Gray, and Anna of Austin. He is also survived by his brother, Don (and Anne) Turner of Kerrville; and many loving nephews, nieces, and cousins.
