William M. "Bill" Midgett
September 01, 1935 - October 03, 2018

William M. “Bill” Midgett, 83, passed away Wednesday October 3, 2018. He was born at home on September 1, 1935 to Melvin Levi and Vera (Sewell) Midgett in Hopkins County, Texas. Bill graduated from Sulphur Springs High School in Sulphur Springs, Texas in 1953. After three years at Texas A&M University he moved on to Southwestern Medical School in Dallas where he graduated in 1960. Continuing his education at Southwestern, he completed post-graduate training in obstetrics and gynecology from 1961-66 while serving in the military from 1962-63. He practiced in Flagstaff, Arizona before coming to Denton in 1967.

Bill retired from the active practice of obstetrics and gynecology in Denton in 1995. He was a diplomate of the American College of OB-GYN and fellow of American College of OB-GYN. He was a long time member of the Texas Medical Association, serving in the House of Delegates for 10 years. Bill was a former chief of staff at Flow Memorial Hospital.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 61 years, Perrijo (Gravley) Midgett, his daughters, Diane Midgett Ferguson and Elaine O’Gorman and husband, Mark O’Gorman, D.V.M., his grandchildren, William and wife Pamela , Peyton, Allison, Robert, and Paul O’Gorman, his great grandchild, Kathleen O’Gorman, his sister, Barbara Smalley and husband, Denny of Montgomery, Texas and his brother, Michael Midgett and wife, Kathy of Euless, Texas.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Melvin and Vera Midgett and his only son, William Todd Midgett.

Funeral Service will be Monday, October 8, 2018 at 10:30 A.M. at Southmont Baptist Church. Internment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the William Todd Midgett, M.D. Award for Superior Clinical Practice, UTMB Medical School Development Office, 301 University Blvd, Suite 3110, Galveston, Texas 77550.
