Christine Landphair
SEPTEMBER 1, 1949 ~ SEPTEMBER 18, 2018 (AGE 69)

Christine Landphair passed away September 18, 2018 at the age of 69.

Christine was born September 1, 1949 in Dallas to James William and Carol Idella (Christianson) Pace. Her father was an aerospace engineer while her mother taught English and history. Growing up in Irving with her four siblings, Christine had a horse named Hunter and spent most of her time with him. She loved reading and had a great gift for storytelling. After graduating from McArthur High School in Irving, Texas, she went on to receive her bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering, focusing on water and wastewater from Texas A&M.

Christine met her beloved husband Harlow Charles Landphair in College Station. The two were married May 15, 1975. Christine had one daughter, Janice Jean, but was blessed with two step-daughters named Wendie and Deborah. Her children were her world. She had such a giving heart, and there was nothing she would not do for her children. Once her grandchildren were born, she wanted to be involved in everything they were doing. She had special nicknames for her grandkids, calling Mitchell “Scooter Boot” and Charli “Baby Doll” or “Doll Baby.” She was always the first to come to the need of her children and grandchildren. She would sweep in and do laundry, cook, clean, and run errands for all of her children when there was a need. She would spend weeks or even months if necessary in New Mexico to assist her family. She loved her family deeply, and was happiest when she was serving others.

Although it was challenging to pursue her degree in chemical engineering while simultaneously balancing her responsibilities as a wife, mother, and demands from her job, Christine managed it well. She was very proud of her degree from A&M. She worked for the Texas Extension Service teaching wastewater classes throughout the state. She enjoyed the connections she made with people throughout the state, and it fed her need for travel. Christine thrived on travel – she loved the adventure of it. She traveled the US on motorcycle and in her motorhome. She also traveled throughout Europe extensively but really loved her visits to New Mexico.

In her free time, Christine enjoyed sewing, baking, reading, and spending time with family. Some of her happiest memories were spent making Christmas cookies with her grandchildren and pumpkin pies for Thanksgiving. Teaching her granddaughter Kelsie to sew in “sewing camp” was very special to her. She also loved animals. Dogs and cats were embraced as part of the family. Recently, her friendship with Shirley Berger was very important to Christine, as they were as close as sisters and an important part of her care.

Christine leaves behind her husband Harlow Landphair, her brother John Pace, her sisters Jean Pace and Beverly Beasley, her daughter and son-in-law Janice and Wayne Hoover, her daughter and son-in-law Wendie and Bryan Warren, her daughter and son-in-law Deborah and David Moore, her grandchildren Kyle Hoover, Chris Hoover, Anthony Wayne Hoover, Savannah Fuller Hoover, James Robert Hoover, Kelsie Warren, Charli Warren, Matthew Moore, and Mitchell Moore, and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her sister Ann Galles and her mother and father Jim and Carol Pace.

To honor Christine’s life, her family has planned a visitation at Hillier Funeral Home of College Station on Tuesday, September 25 from noon until 2, with a funeral service to begin immediately after, at 2. She will be laid to rest in the Aggie Field of Honor at 4 PM.
