SEPTEMBER 3, 1943 – SEPTEMBER 4, 2018
Randall Gary Deutsch, DVM, age 75, passed away peacefully in Denton, TX on September 4, 2018.
Randy was born in Houston on September 3, 1943, the second son to Joseph Louis Deutsch, Jr., and Doris Smith Deutsch. Growing up in West University Place, TX, Randy enjoyed boy scouting, as well as his many cherished hunting, fishing, and boating tips with
his father, brothers and sister. An avid swimmer, he competed in many AAU swimming and diving competitions. He later played football at Lamar High School. At Texas A&M University, he was a member of the Fightin' Texas Aggie Corps of Cadets, and received his
BS degree in 1966. Shortly afterwards, he received an MS in Entomology, and a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree there as well.
There was no greater advocate for both large and small animal husbandry than Randy, which was personified in his 2012 book, Tips for Pet Owners of Dogs & Cats, and was very well received. His 39 years as both a practicing veterinarian, and later consultant
for both Purina and Hill's pet food divisions, touched the lives of countless ranchers, pet owners, colleagues and animal lovers in general.
Randy was a loving and caring dad and granddad to his many children and grandchildren, a kind and considerate brother, and a supportive friend and confidant. Alt are so very saddened by his passing. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Carol Deutsch
who died in infancy, and older brother Joe Deutsch, lll. Randy is survived by former wife, Mona Deutsch, and their four sons: Darin and wife Kristie, Dustin and wife Michelle, Dixon, and Denton and wife Traci, as well as former wife Amy Deutsch, and their
son Michael and wife Chandra. He is also survived by his brother Jerry and wife Denise, sister Carolyn Barbadillo and husband Oscar, and five grandchildren: Kaitlyn Deutsch, Caleb Deutsch, Ellyson Deutsch, Avery Deutsch, and Ashley Peer, as well as various
extended family members. Additionally, sincerest gratitude is extended to Randy's intimate friend and confidant, Athena Hogue, for the many years of love and friendship shown to him.
