Billie Eugene Davis
July 18, 1928 - August 22, 2018

Arlington - Billie Eugene Davis was born on July 18, 1928 at Huckabay in Erath County to W.S. and Nannie Laura Davis.
Memorials: In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Texas Masonic Retirement Center or the Scottish Rite Scholarship Foundation.
Billie grew up in the Huckabay community, graduating from high school on 1945. He then graduated from Texas A&M in 1949 with a B.S. degree in Civil Engineering. On June 3, 1950, Billie and Betty Sue Grant were married in Stephenville, Texas, and three children; Billie Jr., John W. and Jeanette Sue were born to this union.
Upon graduating from Texas A&M, Billie was commissioned 2nd Lt. and after serving 12 years he was honorably discharged as a Captain Infantry USAR.
He was employed as Civil Engineer for 37 years at the Texas Department of Transportation and as Construction Engineer for eight years with the City of Fort Worth.
One of Billie's happiest endeavors was to help children to continue their education. Billie served the Masonic Home and School as President of the school board trustees from 1996 until its closure in 2005. Billie chaired the Fort Worth Scottish Rite Foundation Scholarship Committee in selecting graduating high school Seniors for scholarships to start their college education. Billie established the Davis Family Endowment Scholarship. He and Betty also set up an endowment for the boy and girl scouts at Epworth United Methodist Church.
Billie was raised a Master Mason in Arlington Lodge 438 in 1962. He served as Master of Harmony Lodge 592 in 1998, 1999 and 2000. He served as officers and committee chairman at the Fort Worth Scottish Rite Bodies. Billie served as District Deputy Grand Master of Masonic District 67 in 2000. In 1989, he was coronated 33rd degree Scottish Rite Mason. He was a member of the Texas State Public Employees Association since 1949 and served as a State Officer for eight years.
Billie was preceded in death by his parents: his wife of 53 years and the mother of his children, Betty Davis; wife, Maureen; sister, Lillie Mae Gordon; brother-in-law, Leon Gordon; niece, Lorita Jean Lawton; and granddaughter, Stephanie Davis.
He is survived by wife, Sally and her children; children, Billie E. Davis, Jr. (Joe), John W. Davis (Charyse), and Jeanette Brugh (Kirk); eight grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; nephew, Rex Gordon (Cindy); beloved cousin, Ercil Davis; other relatives and friends.
