"Robert Paul Strobel Jr. went to be with the Lord on May 19,2018. He graduated from Texas A&M Galveston in 1981 and was a member of the Corp of Cadets. He sailed for 32 years with MMP and sailed as Master for Lykes Lines and Hapag-Lloyd USA. His last command
was the St. Louis Express. He retired in 2014. He will be greatly missed by his friends and family and left us all too soon. He is survived by his parents Bob and Helen Strobel, sister Lynda Curry and husband Lanny, sister Roddy, brother John, aunt Nell Dickens
and the family dog, Pistol Pete."

Robert Paul Strobel Jr went to be with the Lord on May 19,2018.
He was born August 9,1959 to Bob ‘59 and Helen Strobel in Port Arthur, Texas. The family moved to Winnie, Texas in 1965. Robert Paul was active in Boy Scouts and achieved the rank of Eagle Scout. Summers during High School he worked as a scout counselor at
the Boy Scout Camp in Woodville, Texas. He attended East Chambers Consolidated Schools. He was a member of the marching band. He graduated in the top 10% of his class in 1977.
He attended college at Texas A&M Galveston and was a member of the Corp of Cadets. He sailed overseas each summer of college on the A&M training ship vessel. He graduated from college in 1981 and was awarded the student in his graduating class who was most
like Captain status upon graduation.
Robert was a member of Masters, Mates and Pilots. He sailed the seas for 30 years and as Captain for 15 years. He sailed as Master for Lykes Lines and Hapag-Lloyd USA. His last command was the St. Louis Express. He commanded container ships carrying as many
as 1400 containers on many voyages to Europe, Amsterdam, and Germany.
Robert Paul was a benefactor of the Texas A&M Galveston Corp of Cadets and a Former Student Endowed Century Club Member.
He will be greatly missed by his friends and family and left us all too soon. He is survived by his parents Bob and Helen Strobel, sister Lynda Curry ’79 and husband Lanny ’77 , sister Roddy ’83 , brother John, aunt Nell Dickens and the family dog, Pistol Pete.
