He was one of four siblings: Dr. George Walmsley, Tom Walmsley and Dr. James Walmsley. In 1932 he moved with his family to Baytown, TX and went to Baytown Junior High School and Robert E. Inducted into the US Army as a 2nd Lieutenant at the age of 19, he had an illustrious career as an officer and left the Army at the rank of Captain. He served overseas during the Korean occupation and was a member of the Army Reserves after that. He married Doris Olive Wright of Houston, TX on March 31, 1951. Jack worked for Exxon (then Humble Oil) from 1951 first at the docks, then as a mechanical engineer and then in procurement and administration. He was also employed as a consultant for the Carter Oil Company. He setup a new house in the Lakewood subdivision of Baytown with his wife Doris while working at Exxon. Their son John was born in 1953 and daughter Karen was born in 1956. He was an early member of Trinity Episcopal Church in old Baytown and a founding member of the new parish of All Saints Episcopal Church in Lakewood where he served on the vestry for a number of years. Jack was transferred by Exxon to Greece in 1964 for a 3 month assignment to assist in operations at the Esso Pappas refinery in Athens where he toured Egypt and many European countries with his wife. Then they returned to the States and he resumed his work at the Baytown Exxon refinery. Jack was transferred by Exxon to the Billings, MT refinery in 1970 and worked there for 8 years where he served on the vestry of St. Luke's Episcopal Church. Jack and Doris purchased a vacation home in Red Lodge, MT in 1976. Jack was then transferred back to the Baytown Exxon refinery in 1978 and retired from Exxon in 1982. After retirement, Jack and his wife Doris continued to live in Baytown, TX and enjoyed many trips to their vacation home in Red Lodge, MT.
