Jim Paul Gamble
MAY 20, 1941 – JULY 29, 2018
Jim Paul Gamble, born May 20, 1941 to John & Blanche Gamble in Adams Gardens, TX, moved to La Feria when he was in the 2nd grade.
After graduating from La Feria HS where he was voted most popular and most athletic his senior year, he attended Texas A&M,Aggie Class of ‘63, in College Station where he earned an Agricultural Engineering degree. He married his sweetheart, Kathryn Mitchell, on June 14, 1963 a year before completing his degree. They moved back to La Feria upon his graduation, embarking on a new chapter in their life together.
He started his farming career picking cotton by hand for Fergus Reynolds and worked for Reynolds’ Flying Service until 1968 when he started farming on his own.
He enjoyed driving a tractor more than almost anything else (especially with GPS) which he did all day Saturday, July 28th. He went to sleep that night and woke up in Heaven with the Lord on Sunday morning.
He was a devoted Christian serving as a deacon at his church, driving the church bus so others could attend church, leading many to Christ through the Royal Ambassador program and through teaching Sunday School, visiting the homebound, helping the widows and bringing the gospel to the LaVilla inmates.
He is preceded in death by his parents John & Blanche, brother John, Jr., sister Helen, and brother Ralph. Survived by his wife Kathryn, four sons - Bruce (Vicki), Jeff (Kristin), Jason & Greg, six grandchildren - Chasity, Destiny, Zachary, Christopher, Ben and Tom and brother Fred (Jo).

Memorial service will be held at First Baptist Church of La Feria on Sunday, August 12th @ 2pm.
