Richard John Titley
OCTOBER 3, 1920 – JULY 21, 2018
Richard John Titley died Saturday July 21 at Edgemere retirement community where he had lived for 12 years.
Richard was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma October 3, 1920, and moved to Dallas at the age of 4. He graduated from Texas A&M, was commissioned in the U.S. Army as a 2nd Lt. in May 1942, and went on to attend the Army’s Advanced Artillery Course, Command and General
Staff College, and Army War College.
He commanded the 64th Field Artillery Battalion of the 25th Infantry Division in The Korean War, and developed new artillery techniques to manage the challenging weather and terrain of Korea. He also commanded an air defense missile battalion during the Cuban
Missile Crisis, and served on the General Staff of Supreme Allied Headquarters in Paris, France where he retired in 1964 as a Colonel in the army. He was decorated with the Legion of Merit, Bronze Star with battle stars, Philippine Independence Ribbon as well
as other service medals.
He returned to Dallas and served as President of Southwest Bankcard Association where he helped develop the infant credit card industry, and was involved in various business interests and investments in Dallas. In retirement he was an avid reader of news and
information on scientific research and the latest developments in technology.
He was married to Geraldine M. Titley 69 years until her death in 2017. He was pre-deceased by his sister Bonnie Leslie and he is survived by his two sons James R Titley and his wife Carol and Robert R Titley.

The Funeral Service will take place on Thursday, July 26, 2018 at 10:00 am in Hillcrest Mausoleum’s Chapel East followed by interment in Hillcrest Memorial Park.
