Memorial services for Rodney Monroe Starnes Jr., 59, of Bullard will be held on Saturday, July 21, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at Colonial Hills Baptist Church with Rev. Robert Carter officiating.

Mr. Starnes passed away Wednesday, July 18, 2018 at his home in Bullard. He was born May 30, 1959 in Tyler to Rodney Starnes Sr. and Ann Starnes.

Rodney attended Clarkston, Moore and Robert E. Lee High School. His family moved to Harrison, Arkansas during his senior year where he graduated from Harrison High School. In 1981, he graduated from Texas A&M, where he played for the Lacrosse Team. Rodney was a member of Colonial Hills Baptist Church where he was an ordained deacon and also served as a Sunday school teacher for over 30 years. He owned and operated Starnes/Osburn and Associates.

Rodney enjoyed hunting, golf, traveling the world and college football. He loved his Texas Aggies and was delighted that both his daughters followed in his footsteps and attended Texas A&M – daughter Mallorie graduating in the Class of 2015 and McKenzie to follow in the Class of 2020.

Rodney was preceded in death by his mother, Ann Starnes; father-in-law, Neal Fields; and brother-in-law, Hollis Simmons of Tyler. He is survived by his loving family including his wife of 28 years, Robin Starnes; daughters, Mallorie Starnes VanSchoubroek and husband Casey of The Colony, Carlie McKenzie Starnes of College Station; his father, Rodney Starnes Sr. of Chandler; sisters, Lisa Starnes of Bullard, Kristie Frazier and husband Mark of Richardson, Gina Goff of Austin; mother-in-law, Sharon Fields of Tyler; and his nieces and nephews: Megan, Mac, Kayla, Payton, Sophie, Jarrett and Aubrey. The family would also like to mention his wonderful caregiver, Georgia Coleman.

The family wishes to thank Dr. Beets and Nurse Rachel from Hospice of East Texas and the amazing group of men who gathered every Wednesday on the back porch to celebrate life with Rodney.

If desired, memorials may be made to Kingdom Life Academy c/o Colonial Hills Baptist Church, 7330 S. Broadway Ave., Tyler, TX 75703.
