Lt Davis joined the Army Air Corp during WWI. During his out-of-service days he managed a commercial airport in the Tucson area. Some "old timers" contend that Davis-Monthan Air Force Base is at the site of this old commercial airport. Lieutenant Davis was recalled to the reserves in 1920 where upon he was assigned to Carlstrom Field, Arcadia, Florida. He died while flying a military plane at Carlstrom Field. Davis-Monthan AFB is still in operation today in Tucson, AZ. By order of the adjutant general the U.S. Army Air Corps Aerodrome was designated to be Davis-Monthan Field.
