STEVEN ALAN GARRETT
January 29, 1950, June 22, 2018

Steve graduated from South Park High School in 1968. Immediately thereafter, he attended Texas A&M University and served in the Corps of Cadets. He was extremely proud of being an Aggie! Steve worked for many years in Industrial Sales, most recently for MRC Global, as an Inside Sales Manager handling pipe, valves and fittings. Prior to that, he worked for Mason Construction Company. Steve was a member of Lions Club International for over 35 years. Being a Lion was a very important part of his identity. He supported the summer camps in Kerrville and fund-raisers during the year. As a Lion, he worked many Friday nights at West Brook home football games, manning a concession stand.

One of his biggest pleasures was live musical theater. For over 20 years, Steve and Eileen were season ticket holders to the Broadway Show Series, which brought six or seven current musicals to Houston each year. Probably his biggest and longest standing interest was SPORTS. He played both football and basketball in school, but he was an equal-opportunity spectator, attending Lamar University basketball, occasional baseball games (Astros) and whenever possible professional football games. A lifelong Methodist, Steve was most recently a member of Wesley United Methodist Church in Beaumont. For many years, he sang in the church choir, first at St. Paul's UMC (Beaumont) and then at Wesley. He was a lover of sacred music.

Survivors include his wife, Eileen Paxton Garrett of Beaumont, daughter, Rebecca Hergert of Lufkin; sons, Robert Garrett and his wife Angie of Lufkin and Stratton Davis of Beaumont; and daughter, Trilby Foster and her husband Michael of Jacksonville, Texas; ten grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

A gathering of Steve's family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Sunday, July 1, 2018, at Broussard's, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. His funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m., Monday, July 2, 2018, at Wesley United Methodist Church, 3810 North Major Drive, Beaumont. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Beaumont.
