Josh Baker Callaway, Jr.
March 12, 1934 - June 19, 2018

Natchez – Funeral services for Josh Baker Callaway, Jr., 84, of Natchez, who passed away on June 19, 2018 at Merit Health Natchez, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on June 21, 2018 at the Grace United Methodist Church with Pastor Linda Fox officiating. Visitation will be held at the Church from 12:00 p.m. until the service. Burial will follow at the Natchez City Cemetery under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.

Mr. Callaway was born on March 12, 1934 in Marshall, Texas, the son of Josh Baker Callaway and Sally Virginia Callaway. He attended college at Texas A&M University, where he proudly served as a member of the Corps of Cadets and the Fightin’ Texas Aggie Band. Following college, Mr. Callaway was employed by the Hughes Tool Company, and Southwest Oilfield Products, where he served as Vice President and on the Board of Directors.

Josh Callaway never met a stranger, and never met a man he didn’t like. He was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church, an Eagle Scout, and a 32nd degree Mason. His greatest successes came in his role as loving husband, father and grandfather.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother-in-law, Don Gaines. Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Karen Kirby Callaway; his son, Bryan Callaway and wife, Donna, of Natchez; his daughter, Jennie Smith and husband, Jarrell, of Vicksburg; his grandson, Josh Baker Callaway, III; his granddaughter, Wesley Tilghman Callaway; and his sister, Patsy Gaines of Marshall, Texas.

Pallbearers will be Josh Baker Callaway, III, Cal Gaines, Monty Mayo, Eddie Foley, Buddy Wade, David Havard, Logan Foley and Cullen Foley.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Buddy Peters, Tommy Tarver, Alton Case and Bobby Harmon.

Memorials may be made to the Grace United Methodist Church or a Charity of your choice.
