Matthew Michael Wiese
September 24, 1991 - June 21, 2018

Matthew Michael Wiese was born on September 24, 1991 to two very proud parents. He was raised in the Cypress area of Houston, Texas and was a lifelong member of Bear Creek United Methodist Church. He was baptized at his family’s legacy church, Westley United Methodist Church, in Bryan, TX where he would continue to attend Easter services every year with family. Growing up, Matthew attended Lowery Elementary, Aragon Middle School, and Langham Creek High School. After his graduation from high school, Matthew attended Texas A&M University, where he would earn a Bachelor’s Degree in Petroleum Engineering, graduating with honors, and as a research scholar. Matthew’s sheer dedication to succeed led him to many wonderful opportunities, including the acceptance of his dream job as a Reservoir Engineer at Chevron in Houston. Matthew loved to push himself towards new challenges. He recently earned a promotion into the R&D Group and was so excited to take on yet another challenge with so many new colleagues of diverse national origins. Matthew loved music, books, shoes, nice cars, hanging out with his friends, traveling, watching sports, being an Aggie, cooking, exploring new places, having fun and making people laugh. He had a deep interest in world cultures and talked about his trips often; especially his love of Paris. Matthew loved his family and loved to entertain them with his great wit, self-deprecating sense of humor, and unique gifts. Matthew was independent, lived life on his own terms, and always lived every day to the fullest. He was ambitious, driven, and eager to succeed from an early age. Matthew was recently accepted to the Rice MBA program, which was an immense source of pride for him and his family. He had reached the half way point of his degree plan and was scheduled to resume classes next month. Through his affiliation with Rice, Matthew became an associate member of the board of directors of Houston’s Theater Under the Stars, a role he took great pride in. Matthew expected to go far and no doubt would have accomplished much in his life however, Matthew passed away unexpectedly on June 21, 2018. He will be sorely missed by his family, friends, and those impacted by his life. We will never get over the loss of our dear son and brother. May the glory of God surround Matthew and grant him eternal peace. Matthew is survived by his father and mother, Mitchel and Robin Wiese, a younger brother Nicholas Wiese, an older brother Jonathan Wiese, a sister-in-law Allison Wiese, a niece Norah Wiese, and a grandmother Patsy Wiese, as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. Matthew is preceded in death by his paternal grandfather Albert Wiese, his maternal grandparents Aubry and Elizabeth Parker and his maternal uncle, Mike Parker.
