It was WWII and he was proud to serve our country until the day he died. He finished his Mechanical Engineering degree to begin his career and made his way to Texas Eastern Gas Pipeline Company where he worked for 36 years moving up to superintendent of Compressor stations. After working for Texas Eastern for ten years, Buck met the love of his life and married Linda Eden Thomas in 1960. During their 17 years in Shreveport, Buck enjoyed his farm in Ringgold, Louisiana and it was a great joy to him to raise cattle on what had been his grandparents farm. He worked this land until being transferred to Houston in 1978. What would he do next? Pursue golf! In 1986 Buck retired from Texas Eastern and began his 32 years of retirement. He never looked back but was continually looking for new endeavors. He played golf until he was 90; he became a master craftsman building much of the furniture in his home. He had a huge garden in more than one place over the years. He grew Black Berries and made Black Berry jelly and wild grape jelly which he loved to give away. He took care of his yard. For many years after retirement, he owned a business with his partner and friend J B Baker.

In later years Buck was surprised to learn of a daughter from many years ago and was able to enjoy a lovely relationship with her that continues today.

Buck gave his life to the Lord Jesus Christ in the Years that he lived in Shreveport Louisiana and served the Lord in several capacities over the years in Champion Forest Baptist Church in Houston Texas.
