Charles R. Hipp

Charles Rich “Bud” Hipp, 80, of Bryan passed away peacefully on Friday, June 8, 2018 at his home with his son and daughter by his side. There will be a memorial service held on Saturday, June 23, 2018 at 2:00 PM at Callaway-Jones Funeral and Cremation Centers in Bryan, with Certified Life Celebrant Dawn Lee Wakefield officiating.

Charles was born on October 16, 1937 to John Wreford Hipp and Floy McClellan Hipp in Albany, Georgia. He was the youngest of three children. He graduated in 1955 from Jefferson High in San Antonio. Bud met his future spouse, Mona Jo McBeth while attending Texas A&M and they were married November 28,1959. To this union came 2 children: Charles Gregory and Jennifer Jo.

Charles was proud to be of the Texas A&M Class of 1959 and he graduated with a Bachelor of Business Administration. He was also a proud member of the Fightin’ Texas Aggie Band. Bud was a highly respected and successful executive in the oilfield industry in Houston. He traveled the world extensively with International Tool & Supply and retired in 2008. Bud was an avid fresh and saltwater fisherman, enjoyed tennis and golf, and loved entertaining his family and friends. He was much loved and will be greatly missed by his family and many friends.

He is preceded in death by his wife of 28 years Mona Jo McBeth Hipp and his second wife Judith “Judy” Lynn Max.

Bud is survived by his son Charles Gregory Hipp of Bryan; daughter Jennifer Jo Hipp of Hurst; grandson (Greg’s son) Jordan Patrick Hipp and wife Lauren and their daughter Callie Jo Hipp of Lake Jackson; granddaughter Makenzie Jo Reeves (Jennifer’s daughter) attending Oklahoma State University in Stillwater, OK; brother Joe Wreford Hipp of San Antonio; sister Gloria Jean Oldner and her husband Jim Oldner of Fort Worth; and numerous other loving family members.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the charity of your choice.
