October 25, 1929 - June 3, 2018

PEORIA - Lawrence E. Fox, 88, of Peoria died 2:30 a.m. Sunday June 3, 2018, at the home of his grandson in Dallastown, PA.

Lawrence was born Oct. 25, 1929 in Buckholts, Texas, to Lorenz H. and Tonie (Fischer) Fuchs. He married Juliann “Julie” Mae Janes on Sept. 2, 1956, at Hope Lutheran Church in Buckholts; she preceded him in death on November 16, 2013.

He was also preceded in death by his parents.

Surviving are his children, Travis J. (Patricia) Fox of Stewartstown, PA, Linda L. Fox of Fort Lauderdale, FL, and David A. (Keela) Fox of Normal; six grandchildren, Jeremy (Jill) Childress of Albany, OR, Dustin (Amanda) Childress of Dallastown, PA, Stephanie Fox of Stewartstown and Anakin, Tristin and Paxtin Fox of Normal; four great-grandchildren, Leah, Charis and Everly Childress, and Dexter Childress; a sister Lela Hansen of Big Spring, TX; a niece Tonie (Rodney) Ferrell and a nephew Terry (Jan) Hansen.

Lawrence graduated from Yoe High School in 1947 and from Texas A&M
University, receiving his Masters Degree in Mechanical Engineering. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean Conflict and retired in 1990 from Caterpillar Inc. in Peoria where he was employed as a Mechanical Engineer for over 28 years.

He was a member of First English Lutheran Church of Peoria.

He was a beloved son, brother, husband, father, uncle and friend. He was a man of faith having a relationship with Jesus leaving a Christian legacy instilled into his family. He was a "do it yourselfer" to an extreme, inventing and building projects on the farm at a young age to fixing and making everything better later in life. He loved history, science, and the beauty of nature as displayed in his gardening and interest in geology. He will be missed by all.

A visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Monday, June 11, 2018, at The Wilton Mortuary of Peoria. A private burial will take place at Swan Lake Memory Gardens in Peoria. A Memorial Service for Lawrence will be held at a later date.

Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association.
