WRIGHT, JR., Arthur A. "Hap" Arthur A. "Hap" Wright, Jr. passed away peacefully after a short illness on May 23, 2018 in Dallas, Texas. He celebrated his 100th birthday on January 17, 2018. Happy "Hap" was a life-long Dallas resident. He attended Forest High School and continued his education at North Texas Agricultural College (later known as UT Arlington) before pursuing his Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering at Texas A & M University, graduating in 1941. Upon graduation, he received his commission in the United States Army where he served under General George Patton in the 4th and 6th Armored Divisions. He was a Company Commander in Normandy, Northern France; the Battle of the Bulge, Rhineland and Eastern Europe. He served in the army of occupation until November 1945 and continued his service as Captain in the US Army Reserves until 1953. As a civilian, Hap gave his loyal service as a sales engineer to Oslin Nation Company for over 30 years. Upon retirement, Hap spent his time with his beloved family at his lake house on Lake Palestine in East Texas. His devotion and love for his family was evident in everything he did. Hap was preceded in death by his bride of 63 years, Elizabeth J. Wright. He is survived by daughters Alicia Grant (husband Daryl), and Kay Bradley; sons Aubrey Wright (wife Beth) and Van Wright (wife Lisa); grandchildren Matthew Grant, Michael Grant, Jennifer Davidson, Brittany Harley, Trevor Wright, Avery Kanaley, and Austin Wright; and 13 great-grandchildren. The family invites friends to celebrate Hap's life on Tuesday, June 5th at 10:00 am at the DFW National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Pkwy, Dallas 75211, where he will be laid to rest with full military honors. Additionally, Hap will be remembered and the family will receive visitors at a memorial "Happy" Hour from 4:00-6:00 pm at Churchill Estates, 8501 Lullwater Dr., Dallas 75238. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Scottish Rite Hospital for Children, 2222 Welborn St., Dallas 75219, Attention: Development Dept., or online at https://scottishritehospital.org/.Other condolences may be sent to family members at PO Box 450933, Garland 75045.
