John H. Douglass(1948 - 2018)
May 21, 2018
John H Douglass, 70, of San Antonio, suddenly passed away on May 21, 2018. He was born to the late Betty and John Douglass, March 13, 1948, in Bryan, College Station, Texas. John graduated from Robert E Lee High in 1966 and went on to earn a bachelor's degree in biology in 1971 from Texas A&M University. He graduated from the Texas A&M School of Veterinary Medicine Master's program in veterinary neurophysiology a year later. John decided to pursue dentistry because he saw it as a health care profession that also would allow him to have a family life. He went on to graduate from the University of Texas Dental School in Houston in 1976.
John was often referred to as a walking encyclopedia, he could tell you something about anything. And he loved being a dentist, and his clients loved having him. He especially loved history, sports, SCUBA diving and reading and learning. He loved to cook and maintain a large garden and roses. He also enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife Eileen Douglass and four children, Jay Gootee, Brian Gootee, Sarah Hoover and Katy Holmes, and eight grandchildren Alyson, Adam, Liam, Thomas, Lily, Samuel, Zoe and Zander, and great-grandchild Caroline.
Services will be Friday May 25 at 10:00 am at Bulverde United Methodist Church, San Antonio, Tx.
In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, SAMMinistries and San Antonio Food Bank.
