Sanford Scott Blakley
December 17, 1933 - May 10, 2018

Sanford Scott (Sandy) Blakley, Sr., 84, peacefully passed away May 10 in Houston, TX, after his courageous battle with cancer. Sandy was born December 17, 1933, in Harmony, AR. He was preceded in death by his parents, Horace and Irma Blakley, and his grandparents, Tess and Rosa Blakley and Luke and Ada Blackburn.

He moved to Fort Worth in 1948, graduated from Amon Carter Riverside High School in 1951, graduated with a BA in Accounting from Texas A&M University, Class of ‘55. Upon graduation, he served in the United States Signal Corp for two years. Sandy was employed by Tennessee Gas Pipeline Company for 38 years, primarily dealing with the purchase and sale of natural gas. He met Carolyn Sue Brannen from Huntsville, TX, when she was attending Baylor, and they married in 1959, a marriage lasting over 58 years. A faithful member of St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, Sandy served as Usher, Deacon, Elder, Trustee, Treasurer and Volunteer in the Church office after his retirement.

Sandy is survived by his wife, Carolyn Blakley; sons, Sanford Scott Blakley, Jr and Stephen Brannen Blakley; granddaughters, Kristen, Nicole, Lauren, Martina, Claira and grandson, Brannen. Sandy was a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather and cherished friend.

Visitation and burial May 19, 11:00 am, Sam Houston Memorial Funeral Home, 1700 Normal Park, Huntsville, TX 77340.

Memorial service June 2, 12 Noon, St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, 5308 Buffalo Speedway, Houston, TX 77005.

Memorial contributions can be made to St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church.
