Buddy Grigg
November 24, 1934 - May 8, 2018

Norman Jack "Buddy" Grigg, 83, of Sherman, Texas, passed away peacefully, at home, in his favorite chair looking out at the nature he loved on May 8, 2018 in Sherman, Texas.

Family visitation will begin at 2:00 PM, Saturday, May 12, 2018 at Dannel Funeral Home in Sherman, Texas.
Funeral services are at 3:00 PM, Saturday, May 12, 2018 at Dannel Funeral Home with dear family friend, Tim Baca, officiating. Burial will follow at West Hill Cemetery. Arrangements are by Dannel Funeral Home.

Buddy was born in Sherman, Texas, to Clarence and Dora Mae Duer Grigg on November 24, 1934. He was married to his closest and truest friend, the love of his life, his high school/college sweetheart, Patsy Gail Cravens on February 2, 1957 in the Little Chapel in the Woods at Texas Woman's University, Denton, Texas. He graduated from Sherman High School in 1952 and Texas A&M University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Animal Husbandry, Class of '56.

Buddy worked in the insurance industry for Farm Bureau Insurance and the Texas State Board of Insurance while also raising his family and pursuing his love of ranching. He retired from the insurance industry in 1991. He and Gail raised cattle and native grasses on their ranch, and fostered a natural wildlife management program, pursuing a love of nature they shared with their family.
Buddy served in the United States Army. An expert shooter, he was a member of the company's competitive rifle team while stationed in California. He was later stationed in Germany with the Armored Infantry, posted at Wildflecken, Germany.

Buddy was a member of the Sherman High School FFA where he attained the Texas Star Farmer Award. While at Texas A&M, he was a two year member of the Corps of Cadets and was active in numerous student activities, including being on the Texas A&M Wool Judging Team which earned a national second place award. He and his family were members of Central Christian Church in Sherman and he helped with youth activities for several years. He enjoyed camping, traveling, snow skiing, and riding his motorcycle with family and friends, and insisted on trips to Sam's Wholesale Club with his grandchildren to fill their cupboards. His most precious joy was his family. He treasured moments, gatherings and celebrations with them.

A loving husband and father, Buddy Grigg was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence Reagan Grigg and Dora Mae Duer Grigg. He is survived by his beloved wife of 61 years, Patsy Gail Grigg; his children, daughter Karen Grigg Bray and husband Bruce Bray, granddaughter Ashley Bray Gibbs and husband Michael Gibbs; daughter Sharon Grigg Kusmertz and husband Tim Kusmertz, and grandchildren Katelyn Kusmertz, Jacob and wife Cameron Kusmertz and great-grandson Elliott Kusmertz; son Timothy and wife Rhonda Grigg, and grandchildren Mallory Grigg, Jacklyn Grigg Hitchcock and husband Joseph Hitchcock, and Maddie Jo Grigg; son Kenneth Rex and wife Meily Grigg, and grandchildren Kyla and Athens Grigg; and Deanna Grigg Jamison and husband Jason Jamison, and grandchildren Hallie, Jake and Nolan Jamison; and Buddy's brother Robert Duer "Sonny" Grigg, niece Denise Grigg Taylor, and nephew Fred Grigg, and their families.
