Luming "Luke" Chen
September 19, 1973 - April 9, 2018

Luming (Luke) Chen, beloved father, son and husband, passed away in his sleep on Monday, April 9, 2018, due to an unexpected heart attack. He is survived by a blessed family, including his two children Lily Chen and Luke Chen, and his wife Yanyan (Shelley) Xie. Luming was born on September 19, 1973, in Taiyuan, China. From a young age, he was a very talented and technical savvy engineer who assembled his first radio at the age of 8. He was admitted to Shanghai Jiao Tong University, a top-ranking university in China, with the highest College Entrance Exam scores in his school. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Electronic Engineering. A few years later, he earned his Master’s Degree in Electronic Engineering from Texas A&M, and started his career in Austin. Luming followed his avid passion for engineering and software programming throughout his career, including critical customer engineer and Computer-aided Design (CAD) engineer positions at Applied Materials, Cypress Semiconductor, Advanced Micro Devices (AMD), and most recently, Cirrus Logic.

While Luming was an extraordinary engineer, well-respected by his peers and customers, he was always concerned more with the needs and wishes of others than with his own. He never hesitated to help anyone in need. Luming and his wife served as volunteers at the Children Ministry of Grace Covenant Church.

Above anything else, Luming was a dedicated, loving, and humorous father, husband, and son. The love he had and expressed for his children was endless. He always made his family his top priority. He spent his days and years teaching, guiding, and encouraging Lily and Luke to learn and grow. He loved to travel with his family and was passionate to share the stories and history of the places they visited. He was a deeply caring and supportive husband to Shelley, and together they shared many wonderful memories of a life journey over the last 19 years since they were married. He loved his mom, Lihua and dad, Chengdi very much, and would do anything to look after them.

Luming taught us how to live a selfless life, who always put others’ needs in front of his own. We love you, Dad. We love you, Niuniu Ba!
