DR. WILLIAM "BILL" HENRY KUBECKA

DR. WILLIAM BILL HENRY KUBECKA PALACIOS - Dr. William "Bill" Henry Kubecka was born on July 18, 1948 in El Campo, Texas, to Oswald and Martha Kubecka. He passed away on April 30, 2018 peacefully in his home in Palacios, TX. Bill was a veterinarian, farming advocate, avid outdoorsman, and dedicated family man. Faith, family, friends and hard work were the cornerstones of Bill's life. Bill was raised the 5th of 12 brothers on the family farm near Deutschburg, Texas. Bill was a lifelong member of the First United Methodist Church of Palacios. He was member of the Palacios High School 2A State Champion Football team in 1964 and the 1968 Texas A&M Cotton Bowl Championship Team. He was a founding member of the Texas A&M University Letterman's Association. A 1971 graduate of Texas A&M Veterinary School, Bill and his wife Maxine built and opened the Palacios Veterinary Clinic. His true passion was for farming, which he continued his entire life. He was an advocate for agriculture and served as Texas Sorghum Association President; National Sorghum Producers President and Chairman of Legislative Committee; U.S. Grains Council Director; and United Sorghum Checkoff Board Member. His advocacy for farming issues led to him testifying in front of Congress numerous times and was instrumental in the passing of the 1996 and 2002 Farm Bills. Even though he always worked hard in business and his advocacy efforts, family and friends were always center in his life. He was a passionate hunter and fisherman who loved sharing these hobbies, especially with his grandkids. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Oswald and Martha Kubecka; and brother Bruce Kubecka. Bill is survived by his wife of 48 years Maxine Rogers Kubecka of Palacios; son Mark Kubecka and wife Amy of Palacios, son Wade Kubecka and wife Leslie of Inez, son Byron Head and wife Mendi of Tulsa, OK; grandchildren Avery, Ty, Ansley, Kade and Madison Kubecka and Bailey Head; brothers and sisters-in-law: Dick and Shirley Kubecka of Palacios, Donald and Shirley Kubecka of Seminole, Dan and Wanda Kubecka of Edna, Douglas and Jody Kubecka of Palacios, Ronnie and Carolyn Kubecka of Palacios, Gerald and Jackie Kubecka of Edna, Gene and Nancy Kubecka of Bay City, Dean Kubecka of Palacios, Erwin Kubecka of Bay City, and James and Debbie Kubecka of Palacios. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 5, 2018, at 10:00AM at First United Methodist Church of Palacios, with Rev. David King officiating. Memorial donations may be made to: First United Methodist Church of Palacios, Houston Hospice of El Campo, or The Deutschburg Community Cemetery Fund.
