Tancey Ann Love (Copeland)
1942 - 2018
San Antonio, TX, US

Tancey Love died on Sunday April 15 at the age of 75. Born December 20, 1942 in Midland, Texas, Tancey lost her mother to natural causes when she was three, as well as her father when she was five. Tancey and her older sister, Laura, seven years of age, were subsequently adopted by a young lieutenant in the U.S. army, her biological uncle, H.H. Copeland and his wife, Francis, both in their early twenties. Her older brother Bob, a senior in high school, graduated from Midland High School and matriculated four years at the University of Michigan. With a career military father, Tancey enjoyed the travels and experiences of the average army brat. Her junior high years were enriched by school in Nurenburg, Germany, her early high school years in Arlington, Virginia, and her last years of high school in San Antonio where she graduated from McArthur High School in 1960. Always a perfectionist and a gifted academician, Tancey was a National Merit Scholar ranking in the top one half of one per cent nationally. She did undergraduate work at University of North Texas where she graduated summa cum laude and phi beta kappa. She completed her graduate work at SMU and Texas A&M University. Tancey taught at Texas A&M University and University of Texas at San Antonio. She had a stellar career at EDS in Dallas after becoming a certified systems engineer. In typical fashion, she broke the glass ceiling at EDS and found herself the only female on the executive floor after creating the marketing support department, crafting the official EDS style sheet, and assisting in securing over $250 million dollars in revenue She capped her career as manager of presidential R&D. Her greatest pride, though, was her daughter, Leigh, now a partner in the Love-Ducote law firm in Sugarland, Texas who embodies many of her mother's traits and drive. Tancey is preceded in death by her biological parents and adoptive parents, her brother Bob English, and a son, Marvin Truitt Love. She is survived by her husband of 57 years, John Love, her daughter, Leigh Love Ducote of Sugarland, two grand daughters, Kincade Love Ducote and Kadence Love Ducote, a son-in-law Jeremy Ducote; two sisters, Laura Colbert of Fort Worth and Cindy Copeland of San Antonio, a brother-in-law Norman (T-Bone) Colbert of Fort Worth, a nephew Brad Colbert of Fort Worth, a grand nephew Clay Colbert and a grand niece Kaleigh Colbert both of Fort Worth; her brother's Bob's children, Jimmy, Tommy and Joanie English. Memorial services for Tancey will be held at Christ Episcopal Church l:00 P.M. Friday May 4. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Port Aransas Preservation and Historical Association P.O. Box 677, 101 E. Bundrett St. Port Aransas, Texas 78373.
