Dr. Dana Marie (Johnson) Manley
AUGUST 21, 1961 ~ APRIL 11, 2018 (AGE 56)

Dana Marie Johnson-Manley was born on August 21, 1961, in Lubbock, Texas. Surrounded by her loving family, she transitioned to eternity with her Lord on April 11, 2018, at age 56.

Since a young age, Dana knew her calling to take care of animals. After graduation from Dunbar High School, she graduated from Angelo State University in San Angelo, Texas, with a Bachelor of Science degree in Animal Science. Dana went on to graduate from Texas A&M College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences. Notably, she was the first African American female to be admitted to and graduate from this college. Dana worked at several clinics throughout her career and was most recently employed at East Plano Murphy Pet Hospital. She was a longtime member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, as well as other numerous professional and social organizations.

Dana met the love of her life and college sweetheart, Dr. Cleveland Manley, Jr., while matriculating at Texas A&M. The two graduated from the same program and enjoyed working as veterinarians together. To their union, three sons were born.

Always a lady of grace, Dana enjoyed a formal upbringing. She was prom queen at her high school and a debutante. Among many hobbies, she enjoyed fishing, playing the violin, spending time with her boys, and helping others. She attended First Baptist Church - Hamilton Park where she volunteered in the soup kitchen.

Kind. Thoughtful. Beautiful. Smart. Funny. Down to earth. Honest. A perfect mother. Dana Marie Manley will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

She was predeceased by her mother, Ada Geraldine Turner Johnson. Those left to cherish precious memories include her husband, Dr. Cleveland Manley, Jr.; sons: Xavier, Elias, and Isaiah; father, Dr. Heenan Johnson, Jr.; brother, Dr. Heenan Johnson III and his wife, Chris; and a host of other dear relatives and friends.
