_______________________________________________________________________________________________________ Sent by widow.
Thomas Ray Thedford, D.V.M., B.S. in Animal Science, class of 1959, died peacefully and quickly the morning of April 19, 2018. He loved A and M and the Aggie tradition. He proudly wore his ring, which his widow now wears, and he was quick to point out the virtues
of the school to anyone who would listen and even to some who probably didn't. He taught at Oklahoma State University on the veterinary faculty for many years, but he went back to A and M for reunions, and he established a scholarship there. He formed alliances
with other Aggies at his home in Stillwater, OK. He married Nancy Martin in shortly before he graduated; she died in 2000. They had two children, Rebecca Thedford Furtado and Miriam Thedford Boydston. In 2001, he married Libby Ellen Stott, and loved her with
all the greatness that Aggies are capable of.
He was a beloved veterinarian, teacher, friend, husband, church member, and community member. He worked in Kenya, Botswana, and Haiti as well as in Oklahoma. He wrote a Goat Handbook that was very popular and helpful, and on his small ranch, he had at various
times goats, sheep, and llamas and--for a VERY short time--he let a group keep some mustangs on his ranch.
He was chosen to go to Plum Island to study foreign animal diseases.
He loved telling Aggie stories and Aggie traditions, and when some Aggie was in the news for something good he would say, "He/She is an Aggie."
He was always very grateful that the school gave him a chance to prove who he was. And that was something mighty fine.
His Celebration of Life will be Mon. Apr 23 at 3 pm in the Stillwater First Presbyterian Church. Any donations should go to The Thedford scholarship at A & M.
