William "Bill" Scott, Jr.
September 29, 1926 - April 19, 2018

William Hermon Scott, Jr, after fighting the good fight, entered into his rest April 19, 2018. Visitation will be at Clifton Funeral Home, Friday, April 27, 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm. Funeral service will be held at 10:00 am Saturday, April 28, at Grace Memorial Baptist Church, Clifton, TX, Internment will follow at The Old Rock Church, Cranfills Gap, TX followed by pie and coffee. He was born September 29, 1926, in Decker Prairie, Montgomery County, Texas in his maternal grandparent's family home. He was the son of William Hermon Scott, Sr. and Mary Rebecca (Reba) Dulany Scott. He married Marilyn Janice Mitchell April 23, 1955, in Houston, TX. Bill graduated Navasota High School 1943. He attended Texas A&M College until entering the Navy January 1944. He served at the USNTC Great Lakes, IL; USS Maryland; S.L.C.U. #162, had four months sea duty, American Area Campaign. After the War he resumed his education at Texas A&M, graduating with a BS in Electrical Engineering in 1949. Bill began his Engineering career at Houston Lighting and Power, Co. He moved with his wife and family to Lufkin in 1967 working for Southland Paper Mill as Planning Superintendent.

Bill and Marilyn moved to Magnolia, TX in 1994. During their retirement, they traveled with the Wheelers Group of Texas Baptist Builders helping to build and repair churches. Bill and Marilyn moved to Clifton in 2006 to be closer to their children. While in Clifton they were involved in First Baptist Church, then Grace Memorial Baptist Church, AARP, and Meals on Wheels.

Bill was a sincere man of Christian Faith. He was quietly faithful as he lived his life with love, grace, and acceptance. He chose love and kindness. His faith and family were of the utmost importance in his life.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and his only brother, Richard Scott.

He is survived by his wife, four days shy of 63 years. His daughter, Rebecca Pederson, her husband David, son James. Grandson, Ryan Pederson, wife, Lili, great-grandsons, Abel and William. Granddaughter, Sharyn McElmurry, her husband, Rick, great-grandsons, Connor and Caedmon. Granddaughter, Erin and husband, Niki, and Grandson, Jonathan and wife Kimberly. He is also survived by one sister in law, nieces, nephews, and friends. His legacy of faith and love will remain forever with his family and friends.

Pallbearers will be his son, Jim, grandsons, Ryan Pederson, Rick McElmurry, Niki Bawa, and Jonathan Pederson, and friend, Melvin Harris. Honorary pallbearers are David Pederson, Connor, and Caedmon McElmurry, Abel and William Pederson.
