Meier, Frank L.
Meier, Frank Lorenz. Born on June 21, 1938. Died on October 2, 2017. Services will be held on Saturday, October 28 at 2pm at Church of the Holy Communion, located at 17405 Muirfield Drive, Dallas 75287. A reception will follow. Frank’s wife of 53 years, Barbara Brooks Meier, predeceased him (2013) as did his parents, Richard Meier (brother), Andrew Meier (nephew), Brady Brooks (nephew) and Stewart Tatum (Godson).

Frank leaves behind his 3 daughters: Michelle and husband David Holmes of Richardson, TX, Andrea Meier of Highlands Ranch, CO and Melanie Penwarden Meier of Dallas, TX. He is also survived by his brother Art Meier of San Antonio, seven grandchildren, eight nieces and nephews, loving companion, Sue Allin of Dallas and a host of dear friends.

Frank was a caring husband and father and embodied the motto of “service above self.” Having served as Warden on several church vestries he also enjoyed working with others through his involvement with the following civic organizations: Dallas Executives Association, Dallas Opera, Board Member 1984-2000; The Dallas Knife and Fork Club; North Dallas High School Alumni Board and North Dallas High School Partners in Education. Additionally he served as Rotary Past District Governor – District 5810, 1981-82 and President of East Dallas Rotary Club.

His first job was as a copy boy during summers for the Dallas Morning News where his grandfather worked as night editor. A member of ROTC at North Dallas High School, he graduated with numerous drawing awards. After college at Texas A&M (class of ‘59) and marrying his sweetheart, Frank served in the National Guard while embarking on an interesting and unique career as an architect where he enjoyed a wide variety of projects and served many distinguished clients including Mary Kay Cosmetics, The LTV Corp., Steamboat Springs Resort, General Dynamics, Lockheed, US Corp of Engineers, Texas A&M University, The Trammell Crow Company, City of Dallas, The Dallas Opera, many schools for the Dallas Independent School District and many libraries and churches. In total he worked in 21 states and 16 foreign countries.

He had a passion for classical music and opera and enjoyed wood working with friends – all the while chewing on a good cigar. Cookouts with family and friends, including the annual Octoberfest he loved to host in his backyard woods, were some of his favorite events.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations in his name to Church of the Holy Communion – Building fund or Museum of Biblical Arts, Dallas, Tx.

John 14 1-2: “Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me. My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you.”
