William Hites
May 11, 1926 - March 4, 2018

Service:
3pm Friday, at Thompson’s Harveson & Cole; Visitation 2pm Friday before the service; and interment at the DFW National Cemetery in Dallas.

William (Bill) Hites, 91, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, went to be with the Lord, on March 4th 2018.

Bill was born in Dallas, and served as a radar technician with the US Army’s Signal Corp during WW II, stationed in the Hawaiian Islands after the Pearl Harbor attack. He held a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from Texas A&M and a Masters Degree in Engineering Administration from SMU. After 48 years in several supervisory positions Bill retired as a Project Manager from General Dynamics in 1985. In retirement he shared his time and technical knowledge as a community volunteer with agencies like the Fort Worth RACIS, Red Cross of Tarrant County, Cowtown Marathon, and FWPD Code Blue. He liked working with his hands and developed a skill as a cabinetmaker – often with exotic woods – cabinets that line his garage are examples of his talent.

He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Donna; son John and wife Lou; daughter Debbie and husband Kenny; grandchildren, Johnny, Angela, and Jennifer, and great-grandson Jakob.
