Doug Edward Crain
1961 - 2014

Doug Edward Crain, 53, of Stephenville, passed away on Sunday, February 16, 2014, in Stephenville.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM, Tuesday, February 18th at Stephenville Funeral Home Chapel with Crystal Davis officiating, and Dan Collins assisting with a reading of Doug’s obituary. Burial will follow at Upper Green’s Creek Cemetery. Visitation will be 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Monday at Stephenville Funeral Home.

Doug was born on January 30, 1961, in Houma, Louisiana to the late Oliver ‘Buddy’ and Mary Pauline 'Polly' Bremer Crain. He married Sherry Creacy, on September 21, 1985 in Morgan Mill. Doug received his BS from Texas A&M University in Engineering. He was a business analyst with Saint Gobain Abrasives for the past 29 1/2 years. Doug moved to Stephenville in 1984, and was a member of the Lutheran faith.

Doug’s first love was his family, and he spent most of his time with his beloved wife of 28 years, Sherry, and their three grandchildren. He was a wonderful father to his own three children, and was a father figure to many of his children’s friends. Doug had a positive impact on many young lives. He loved Yellowjacket football and baseball, attending all of the games and most of his grandson’s practices. Doug loved traveling. His favorite destinations were Canada, Hawaii, and especially Alaska. He was a family man, supportive, loving, and kind.

Survivors include his wife, Sherry; son, Brent Conner of Dallas; daughters, Andrea Conner of Dallas and Christie Slaughter and husband Chris of Stephenville; grandsons, Conner Warmerdam of Stephenville and Trynten Slaughter of Brownwood; granddaughter, Maeson Conine of Stephenville; and his stepmother, Sandy Crain of Conroe.

The Crain family wishes expressions of sympathy be made in the form of donations to the Ronald McDonald House or to St. Judes Children’s Hospital.
