Jimmy Ray
Nicholson
1943 - 2018
Mr. Jimmy R. Nicholson, 74, passed away on Friday, January 26, 2018 in Mansfield, Texas. He was born on September 29, 1943 in Corsicana to Henry Ray and Ethelynne (Haws) Nicholson.
Jimmy was a funny, outgoing person that loved the outdoors. Farming and ranching were his way of life since his teenage years. His passion was planting a seed and watching it grow. He attended Blooming Grove Schools and later went to Texas A&M College. Jimmy had one more passion, and that was working at the Sale Barn! He worked at the Hubbard Livestock, and the Corsicana Livestock in Angus. He rarely missed a day working at the Sale Barn, he loved the people there, and showed it by his many conversations, and contagious laughter. Jimmy worked many years taking agricultural surveys for NASS/USDA. He always enjoyed getting out and meeting the people! Jimmy attended the Methodist Church of Barry for most of his life, but in later years began attending the Cowboy Church of Corsicana.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Henry Ray and Ethelynne Nicholson; brother, Dan Nicholson and niece, Jenny Price.
He is survived by his loving wife, Becky Nicholson; son, Tim Nicholson; step sons, Danny Hanna, Jr., Cody Hanna and wife Ashley of Richland, Texas, Joey Hanna and wife Jennifer of Eureka, Texas; daughters, Sheila Anderson and husband Russell of Hubbard, Texas, and Amy Davis and husband Cody of Barry, Texas; fifteen grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Visitation with the family will be held from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Sunday, January 28, 2018 at Corley Funeral Home. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, January 29, 2018 at the Corley Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Gary Johnson, Pastor Derek Rogers, and Pastor Russell Reed officiating. Interment will follow in Dresden Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Lloyd Gowan, Mike Spain, Gary Brunton, Gary Nelson, Jodie Farmer and Robert Hornik. Honorary Pallbearers will be Gerald Nichols, Devon Perkins, Ben Brunton, Brent Brunton, Chuck Owens, and Sean Hughes.
