Dr. Neil Richard Seidel, 53, of Giddings, TX, passed away on Sunday, January 7, 2018 after a long battle with cancer. Neil was born in Bastrop, Texas on July 29, 1964, the son of Barbara (Michalski) and Gilbert Seidel. He married Karen (Greenberg) Seidel on January 20, 1990 in String Prairie, Texas.

Neil is survived by his wife, two daughters, Samantha Seidel, of College Station, Texas; Madison Seidel, of Plano, Texas; mother, Barbara Seidel of Rosanky, Texas; three sisters: Sandra Goertz and husband, Paul of Rosanky, Texas; Carolyn Hammons and husband, Ronnie of Rosanky, Texas; Peggy Lancaster and husband, Ricky of Austin, Texas; two brothers: Alan Seidel and wife, Tina of Rosanky, Texas; Chris Seidel and wife, Maureen of Katy, Texas; best friend, Kipp Galleymore of La Grange, Texas. He is preceded in death by father Gilbert Seidel and brother, Dr. Terry Seidel, MD.

Neil grew up on a small cattle ranch in String Prairie, Texas. He attended school in nearby Smithville where he graduated Valedictorian of his high school class. Neil went on to continue his education at Texas A&M University where he received a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine. As a person who loved and cared for animals since early childhood, veterinary medicine seemed the natural path for Neil. Upon graduation, he built Crossroads Animal Hospital, a mixed animal clinic in Bastrop, Texas and practiced there for 10 years. He later built Texas Star Animal Hospital, a small animal clinic in Giddings, Texas and practiced there for 17 years. His acute intuition and hard work allowed Neil to accomplish much in his lifetime.

A rosary will be held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 405 St. Mary’s Road, Rosanky, Texas, 78953 at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 25, 2018.
