Andrew “Andy” Shuvalov
1933-2018
Andy Shuvalov, 84, of Manor, Texas passed away Sunday, February 25, 2018. He was born in Meknes, Morocco on April 6, 1933 to Peter Shuvalov and Elena Tatistcheff. He was married to Betty Walterscheid Shuvalov for 49 years.
Andy practiced criminal law for more than 50 years, serving as both County and District Attorney for Deaf Smith County, the Executive Director of the Prosecuting Attorneys Coordinating Council, and founded CLEAR (Council for Law Education and Research) producing the best-selling, “Elements of a Crime” manual, which is currently used in most police academies across Texas. Throughout his distinguished career, Andy continually strived to improve and reform the criminal justice system in Texas for both peace officers and defendants. After retiring from private practice, Andy continued to mentor prisoners through correspondence up until his death.
He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and had a passion for sharing the Lord with others and His message of forgiveness.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his spouse, Betty Walterscheid Shuvalov, 5 children – Sonia, Elena “Sassy”, Kevin, Nina and Lisa. Sons and daughters-in-law Charles, Kenny and Heather and five cherished grandkids Avery, Elizabeth, Turner, Andrew and Abbie. He is also survived by his sister Alexandra Shuvalov.
Friends are invited to a visitation to celebrate Andy’s life on Friday, March 2, from 5:00-7:00 pm at Beck Funeral Home, 4765 Priem Lane, Pflugerville, TX 78660.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, March 3, at 12:00 PM at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 500 Immanuel Road, Pflugerville, TX 78660.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you consider making a donation in Andy’s name to the Capital City Texas A&M Scholarship Fund or American Heart Association.
